JUNIOR AND INTERMEDIATE GROUPS (Ages 9-12)
Fun! Adventure! New friends! In the Junior and Intermediate programs, campers live for 10 days in groups  with other campers the same age and gender, led by two trained counselors.  Nestled in the pines, while tenting on Zeden and Ispuchaw lakes, campers get a taste of  wilderness living.  Spend  your morning paddling silently to get close to a beaver lodge. In the afternoon we will switch into high gear for a raucous game of flags! The evening activities include  liturgy and singing in the chapel, then back to the campsite for hot chocolate around the campfire.

In their groups, campers will participate in a number of activities including Kayaking, Swimming, Sports, Drama, Naturelore, Canoeing, Obstacle/Ropes Course, ArcheryOrienteering, Wilderness Crafts, Group Initiatives, Discovery and the famous “ Bosco Games” and Bosco Relay.
Other activities include out-trips to nearby lakes and streams.  Use your skills to orienteer to the sites, cook your meals and build your shelter.  Try your luck at fishing, learn how to track animals, the list is endless! When you return to camp head to the beach for a cooling swim, or just to relax.

At the closing ceremonies, campers share their adventures with parents and friends. Spend part of your summer exploring nature,  making new friends and having fun.

SENIOR PROGRAMS
Our senior programs offer campers a safe, exciting, co-ed adventure in northern Saskatchewan. Within the framework of a wilderness out-trip, portions of each day will be set aside for training in wilderness and leadership skills as well as spiritual programs. For more see Out-Tripping.

WILDERNESS SKILLS ~ WS (ages 13-15)
Have you ever cooked over an open fire?  Pitched your own tent? Paddled a conoe across a lake while watching the Northern Lights glisten off the water? If this sounds like something you would like to try, WS is for you. Wilderness Skills is an introductory program designed to give campers experience in all aspects of camp. Campers will spend about half their time in camp learning wilderness survival skills, canoeing skills and orienteering. The rest of the time they will be out putting their skills to use hiking and canoeing around the park.

FISHING SKILLS ~ FS (ages 13-14)
The morning sun is burning the mist off of the water. Your first cast hits the water and the anticipation builds as you see a boil of water rise nearby. Later in the afternoon you will be moving camp to the next lake where you will be learning how to fish for trout from a canoe. FS is a program for the camper who can not get enough fishing. The area surrounding SJBC has an abundance of lakes with a variety of fish, from pike to trout to whitefish. Campers will spend much of their time away from camp, learning fishing, filleting and cooking techniques. As well there will be instruction on catch and release, aquatic ecology, edible wilds and canoeing. Campers are responsible for their own fishing gear.

BIKE OUT-TRIPPING SKILLS ~ BOTS (ages 14-16)
BOTS offers an adventurous and enjoyable way of exploring the Narrow Hills Provincial Park. The forests, lakes, trails and “narrow hills” of the area make for some of the best and most exciting riding in the province.  For 7 days campers ride groomed and ungroomed, singletrack and fire road, novice and technical trails.  In addition to the usual blend of out-tripping activities, campers will learn bicycle maintenance, riding skills and safety practices. Campers must bring their own mountain bike and helmet.

CANOE OUT-TRIPPING SKILLS ~ COTS (ages 14-16)
Have you ever dreamed of exploring like a voyageur? Feeling the water gently rock your canoe as you gaze up at the Northern Lights? Sharing some time with the beavers, moose and eagles? COTS is a program for those wanting challenging water adventure. Your group will plan and pack for a seven day canoe trip on a historic water route. You will get the chance to see nature close up as you paddle down the rivers and across lakes.  Basic camping, cooking, flat and moving water skills will be included, as well as time to relax and maybe catch a fish for dinner. Prerequisites: Previous canoe experience.

WILDERNESS KAYAKING SKILLS ~ WOTS (ages 14-16)
Looking for something a little different? Kayaking is a great way to explore the lakes of the northern Saskatchewan. During your 10-day adventure you will establish a lakeside base camp, cook over open fires and learn basic kayaking skills. You will learn to paddle and control a tandem kayak while exploring the many bays and islands of a northern lake. Keep your eyes and ears open for beaver and deer as you slice quietly through the pristine, clear water. We provide top quality equipment including PFD’s, tents, kayaks and paddles.Campers are responsible for waterproof bags for their own gear. Canoeing and/or paddling skills are recommended but not required.

WILDERNESS OUT-TRIPPING SKILLS ~ WOTS (ages 14-16)
WOTS is designed for those desiring a challenging hiking adventure.  This program combines wilderness skills and orienteering as campers plan and pack for 7 days of hiking to nearby lakes and streams.  Days are spent hiking over a variety of terrain exploring and observing nature “close up”.  Evenings are spent around campfires, cooking, relaxing and enjoying the Northern Lights in the company of new friends.  Prerequisite: Previous SJBC senior camping experience or the equivalent.

ADVENTURER’S LEADERSHIP EXPERIENCE ~ ALE (ages 15-17)
SJBC’s premiere camping program. ALE is a 24 day leadership development program, of which at least 15 days are spent hiking and canoeing in the northern Saskatchewan wilderness.  Surrounded by Mother Nature, with only your group to rely on, you will discover and develop your own personal skills and talents.  This experience can build deep and lasting friendships and lead to greater awareness of oneself and others.  While hiking, canoeing and camping you will hone your wilderness skills, explore group dynamics and have opportunities to develop and show your leadership skills.

ADULT CANOE ADVENTURE (Ages 18 And Over)
For the more mature camper and the young at heart we have a water adventure that is next to none. Can’t canoe?  Doesn’t matter!  Like more adventure?  We’ve got it!  Enjoy fishing?  No problem!  All skill levels are welcome, instruction will be provided.  Days will be spent paddling on lakes and rivers in northern Saskatchewan.  Evenings will see you relaxing by the fire, sharing stories and songs and taking in the awesome light show that the heavens provide.

This program has no set dates. If you, or your group, are interested, please contact us and we will explore your options for times, length of trip and destinations.

Resource Programs at camp include canoeing, swimming, naturelore, wilderness crafts, orienteering, Hebertism, sports, archery, Group Initiatives, Discovery, and evening liturgies. These programs form the core of main camp activities.

Skill-oriented programs include swimming, canoeing, naturelore, and orienteering. These programs help the camper to try new things and learn new skills, such as canoeing or identifying what plants THEY can eat. Campers use nature's classroom with lots of hands-on activities to explore and learn. Some programs have levels which represent their achievements of the different activities.

The other programs such as Discovery, Group Initiatives, and Hebertism are fun programs stressing group dynamics, challenging the camper to work cooperatively with the other members of the group. All these activities work together to enhance the camper's spiritual, physical, and mental self as well as being lots of fun with a high level of care for the camper.

Our out-trip activities are what makes St John Bosco Camp so special. From the one night overnight hike for the Juniors to the 15 plus day wilderness experience on ALE, campers develop outdoor and camping skills including outdoor cooking, shelter building, campsite selection, no trace camping and equipment selection and care. Campers expeience nature hands and close up. It can be a truly enriching experience.
